Beefmaster Barbeques

Although the development of the Beefmaster was started by Tom Lasater and was approved by the Agricultural Department of the USA in 1954, its origin goes back to the early 1900s.

Edward C Lasater, a prominent cattle farmer from Fafurries in the south of Texas, at the time had a herd of more than 20 000 Herefords and Shorthorns on 400 000 acres of land. He also had a registered Hereford stud which were bred for pigmentation around the eyes. The cows were good milk producers, which was an important trait of the Lasater herd. Edward Lasater saw the importance thereof in the production of meat.
